Entry to the Sports Massage Diploma requires an interest in both science and sport.

Students are usually required to have 4-5 GCSEs at 4 and above (including English or Maths.) Other qualifications and experience will be considered for adult learners.

In this 3 term course, you will cover the skills needed to work effectively and efficiently within the field of sports massage. Through practical and theory lessons, you will develop your skills and ability to work safely and effectively on soft tissue dysfunction. You will be required to develop your knowledge of anatomy and physiology, an understanding of the principles of health and fitness, professional practice, and sports massage treatments. Students will also gain knowledge of taping and strapping, as well as First Aid training.

The five units we study are
- Anatomy and physiology for sports massage
- Principles of health and fitness
- Understand the principles of soft tissue dysfunction
- Professional practice in sports massage
- Sports massage treatments

This course is an opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience and knowledge in an ever-growing field. It’s an ideal choice for those wishing to pursue a career within a massage discipline, set up their own business, or further their own development.

Students will be assessed through the following:
- Completion of workbooks
- Variety of practical and knowledge-based observations
- External multiple choice on Anatomy and Physiology

Students will need to purchase a practical kit which they will be expected to wear to all lessons. They will also need to purchase insurance, towels, and equipment (foldaway table and lotions/oils for their own practice).

On successful completion of the Sports Massage Diploma, you can progress directly to work as an independent Sports Masseur or work within a health or fitness centre as a sports masseur. Additionally, students could continue to study a Level 4 Certificate in Sports Massage Work.
