This course is a part time in-service PGCE enabling you to train on the job.
The course is delivered by experienced tutors who will support you to develop your teaching skills.
To enrol on this course, you need to have passion and enthusiasm for supporting and developing the planning and delivery of lessons. You will need a degree or professional qualifications to support your subject knowledge. This route into teaching is hard work as you are working and studying at the same time, but it prepares you well for a rewarding career in teaching.
We have high expectations, and we will support you to be the best you can. As an in-service trainee teacher, you will either already be teaching, be about to start a teaching role, hold a TA trainee position (where you have supervised teaching opportunities) train or teach adults, or you may have some voluntary teaching hours.
You will need a mentor; evidence of teaching hours and you will need GCSE maths and English or equivalent at grade C/4 or above.
You will explore current research and receive practical support and guidance on how to apply this in your teaching.
On successful completion of the course in association with Brighton University you will be awarded a Graduate Certificate of Education (level 6) or a Certificate of Education (level 5).
Once qualified you can complete QTLS through Society of Education and Training.
Even if you have already had a student loan you can apply for one for teacher training.
