Each week will encompass a different theme, devised between myself and the interests of the particular student body each term.

What will be covered:

This course is open to complete beginners and more advanced artists alike to learn the techniques of watercolour painting.

Watercolours are a wonderful medium offering many possibilities. They have been used throughout history especially as a means of documenting landscapes and natural histories, and continue to be a popular medium to this day, utilised by a number of contemporary artists.

Throughout these sessions students will be guided through the basics of colour mixing, perspective and composition. They will be encouraged to explore their own ways of working with watercolour and will have the opportunity to learn about some examples of watercolour artists. During the Summer term and weather-permitting, some classes will take place outside around the college, so that students have the opportunity to create watercolour sketches from life. Classes will be friendly, focused and fun.

Each term covers different topics, as such this class will be suitable to both new and previous students of the course.

This course will cover a range of topics, including colour mixing and landscapes. Each week will encompass a different mini-project furthering student’s understanding of the medium and developing their confidence.
