The AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting is suitable for those looking to acquire the skills needed to move into a career in finance. The course provides a firm foundation in finance administration, covering areas such as double entry bookkeeping to basic costing principles and using accounting software. Students must successfully complete four-unit assessments and one synoptic assessment to achieve this qualification.

The four assessments are based upon the following themes:

- Introduction to Bookkeeping
- Principles of Bookkeeping Controls
- Principles of Costing
- The Business Environment

Although the AAT does not set any prerequisites for the study of the AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting, we recommend that applicants have obtained GCSE Maths and GCSE English at grade C/4 or above (or equivalent) to allow them to cope with the quantitative skills and technical language that they will encounter throughout the course.

On successful completion, the accountancy skills developed by studying this course will help you to seek employment with confidence, and/or progress to the next level of learning, such as the AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting.

Additional costs:

- Course fees including exam fees and resits if needed.
- AAT membership will also be needed and is paid directly to AAT.
- Students are encouraged to buy their own textbooks and workbooks. However, textbooks are available to loan from the College library free of charge if required.
