This nationally recognised course is validated by the NCFE, and although it is not a licence to practise as a counsellor it provides a progression route to a Diploma in Counselling.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to study at level 3 either through previous level of learning. Students may have completed a level 2 in counselling or have relevant work experience.

Students without experience of working with people in a supportive way may find it beneficial to undertake level 2 first.

This is an ideal qualification for those seeking to enhance their employment skills through the use of counselling skills (e.g. nurses/social workers). It could also be useful to those seeking a career change, to those offering help on a one-to-one basis and to those wishing to progress onto further training as a professional counsellor. It would also be useful to those wishing to consolidate their skills and knowledge in a counselling context.
