This course is open to complete beginners and more advanced artists alike to learn the techniques of watercolour painting.
Watercolours are a wonderful medium offering many possibilities. They have been used throughout history especially as a means of documenting landscapes and natural histories, and continue to be a popular medium to this day, utilised by a number of contemporary artists. Throughout these sessions students will be guided through the basics of colour mixing, perspective and composition. They will be encouraged to explore their own ways of working with watercolour and will have the opportunity to learn about some examples of watercolour artists. Each week will encompass a different mini-project furthering student’s understanding of the medium and developing their confidence. Classes will be friendly, focused and fun.
The course will be lead by Laura Ribbons, an award-winning local artist, who has exhibited throughout the UK and internationally. Laura began working in watercolours during her degree at Wimbledon College to Art and has continued to do so for the last 10 years, experimenting with them extensively. She looks forward to sharing her enthusiasm for watercolours with the class.
